Jonathan R. Longobardi
Jonathan R. Longobardi is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property Department.
Jonathan is regularly involved in all phases of intellectual property procurement, defense and enforcement, including the preparation and prosecution of trademark and copyright applications, evaluation of patent infringement and validity contentions, opposition and cancellation actions before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the US Patent and Trademark Office, and all aspects of federal litigation, including copyright, trademark, patent, unfair competition, trade secret, and information technology. In transactional matters, Jonathan prepares and negotiates license agreements, website development agreements, and other documents relating to information technology for firm clients. Jonathan’s work includes preventing the unauthorized online distribution of copyrighted materials under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act as well as preventing infringers from capitalizing on the trademarks of established brand owners.
Jonathan received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice from the University of Connecticut (Storrs) and his Juris Doctor from Western New England College School of Law, where he was named to the Law Review and served as its Business Manager. Jonathan was a national finalist in the American Bar Association Negotiation Competition (2009-10), and held the post of Student Director of Immigration Legal Services at the Jerome N. Frank Legal Services Organization of Yale Law School, where he represented clients in immigration and asylum matters. During the summer of 2009 Jonathan also served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Jacques Leroy, Massachusetts District Court Judge, Springfield, Massachusetts.
Prior to attending law school, Jonathan interned in the Division of Advertising Practices at the Federal Trade Commission in Washington DC, where he investigated false and deceptive advertising claims. Jonathan also worked as a paralegal in the Patent Litigation Department of the law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, LLP (Washington DC) and in the Civil Litigation Department of the law firm Updike, Kelly & Spellacy, P.C. (New Haven CT).
